Latest Trailer For The Technomancer Goes In-Depth On This Sci-Fi RPG

Written by Neil Soutter on 19 April 2016 at 16:30

After the turgid Bound by Flame, I've got an eye on Spiders Games to see whether it can bounce back with The Technomancer. There’s a distinct mid-2000’s PC RPG vibe to what’s on offer in the extremely in-depth new gameplay trailer, with the titular Technomancer being a chap called Zachariah. He’s trapped on Mars and on the run from the Secret Police, but he’s got access to a range of technology-based powers to combat foes. [More]

Sony Creates Record Breaking Optical Discs With Massive 3.3 Terabyte Storage

Written by Stuart Thomas on 19 April 2016 at 15:00

Despite the physical versus digital war on PC already being done and dusted, there are still a few holdouts buying their games on discs. That means you end up with a situation like Grand Theft Auto 5, where you’re armed with no less than seven DVDs and you do your back in picking the damn thing up. With game sizes getting off the charts I’ve always thought it a little strange that more companies didn’t adopt Blu Rays on PC, but I guess that ship has sailed already. Nevertheless Sony shows no sign of giving up on physical formats, announcing a new range of optical media with an incredible 3.3TB storage capacity. [More]

Brand New Mafia III Trailer Drops Release Date And Story Details

Written by Joffy S on 19 April 2016 at 13:24

2K has dropped a brand new Mafia III trailer, and this one’s bringing the hype. The One Way Road story trailer takes the wraps off of a few of Mafia 3’s plot points, along with teeing up its thematic influences. The switch to 60’s New Orleans has undeniably made it a very different beast to the previous Mafia outings, and it’s easy to get some serious Vice City vibes from the way it which it encapsulates the crime drama of its particular period. PlayStation 4K Leak Suggests Its Codenamed NEO And GPU Is Twice The Performance Of PS4

Written by Joffy S on 19 April 2016 at 12:45

Ok, so these PlayStation 4K rumours just absolutely refuse to go away. The latest reports to come out suggest Sony has internally codenamed the new machine NEO, and we’ve got our hands on the first specs. Each of the three main components (CPU, GPU & memory) have all received a significant bump according to this latest leak, with the NEO sporting an eight-core 2.1 GHz Jaguar CPU, 8GB GDDR5 memory with a total bandwidth of 218 GB/s, and a vastly improved AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN) GPU. Its Buff And Nerf Time In The Dark Souls 3 1.04 Update With The Greatsword The Winner

Written by Neil Soutter on 19 April 2016 at 11:45

Dark Souls 3 has a new patch! Don’t panic though, it’s nothing as major as the last 1.1 1.03 update, but for those already intimately familiar with the inner workings of Dark Souls 3 there’s some crucial alterations. I’d hazard a guess the performance update for the Greatsword is the largest change. Those struggling through Dark Souls 3 with this supposedly mighty blade will find it’s been sharpened somewhat, resulting in superior damage. [More]

World of Warcraft, the game that just never ends, will be getting a new lease of life this coming August when its Legion expansion pack arrives, Blizzard has announced. The sixth major expansion for World of Warcraft, Legion drops on August 30th, and once more centres around the demons of the Burning Legion. Hitman Dev Says Major DirectX 12 Performance Gains Will Only Happen If DX11 Is Dropped

Written by Joffy S on 18 April 2016 at 17:00

When DirectX 12 was announced we expected it to arrive with a bang. What we got was the dampest of squibs, with barely noticeable bumps in performance and even drops in some instances - I’m looking at you, Nvidia. A leading Hitman developer from Io Interactive doesn’t reckon this is always going to be the case though, claiming that once DirectX 11 is dropped entirely we will see the 50% performance boosts promised by Microsoft all them years ago. Ubisoft To Punish Players For Using The Divisions Falcon Lost Incursion Exploit

Written by Neil Soutter on 18 April 2016 at 16:00

I don’t know if you’ve dared poke your nose into the free for all that is The Division lately, but it’s the Wild West in there. Exploits and glitches are being discovered, farmed and rinsed dry by the boatload, with Ubisoft really struggling to keep a lid on things. The latest bout of these have of course arrived with the new Falcon Lost Incursion, a raid-style game-type for high-end players. As Ubisoft is struggling badly to contain the exploits, it’s preparing instead to dish out hefty punishments for those who use them. [More]

If You Have QuickTime Installed On Any Version Of Windows Get Rid Of It Now

Written by Stuart Thomas on 18 April 2016 at 14:45

I can remember where no matter what you did, Apple’s QuickTime media player would manage to worm its way onto your system somehow. Fortunately it’s fallen by the wayside in recent years, replaced by HTML5 video standards. Should you still be rocking a QuickTime installation though, now is the time to get rid. Apple has officially stopped supporting the Windows version and there are already two known security vulnerabilities which will never be patched out. [More]

Latest Nintendo NX Rumours Suggest It Is Using Custom AMD Polaris 14nm GPU

Written by Neil Soutter on 18 April 2016 at 13:30

The Nintendo NX rumours are flying in thick and fast now, with the latest reports suggesting Nintendo’s next console will be making use of a heavily customised Polaris GPU from AMD. We’ve known for some time now that AMD is working on whatever APU solution is used in Nintendo’s NX console, but it looks as if the Japanese giant could be taking advantage of the upcoming AMD die shrink. Polaris utilises the 14nm FinFET fabrication node and as such would likely be more powerful and much more energy efficient than the PlayStation 4. [More]
