Great Product, works really really well. I can hardly tell I am streaming compared to my native pc in the living room. The steam link allows gaming on a tv without a large noisy gaming box. Graphically the stream contents outshines xbox and Ps4 graphics at 1080p. I can sometimes even up sample my resolution from the streaming box to 2K or 4K which gives the 1080p stream a more polished look. So basically you can set your in game resolution to 4K and get crisper cleaner looking games while still managing this on a 1080p tv screen.

As of now I have a PC in the basement that is in sleep mode. If i want to play i just click the controller and the pcs boots up in steam big picture. The software has been alot more stable and is going on weeks without any reboots or issues of going down stairs to fix pc problems.

Great product if you are a pc gamer wanting console gaming. Warning thou not all games handle big picture interface well. UBISOFT has their own Sign for assassins creed games that needs a keyboard connected to the steam link to enter in passwords. Some other games have issues but things are getting smoothed out as time progresses.

Works alright when it recognizes steam running on my pc... or when my pc recognizes it on in-home streaming.. either way, they WON'T TALK! No forums have helped. It simply is not seen as a device anymore. Absolute bs and waste of $50.

I mostly got this for video streaming from my PC. I originally thought about getting a 75ft HDMI cable, but it would be a pain to have to run back to the PC whenever I want to pause etc. since my livingroom is out of range of wireless input devices.

Steam Link solved this problem. It costs around the same as an average 75ft HDMI cable, and can do much much more.
You can stream literally any PC activity through the Steam Link just by minimizing Big Picture mode, so anything you can do on PC can be done through the Link. It's compatible with any USB keyboard/mouse in addition to the Steam controller or Xbox controllers, so it's just like having the PC in the living room.

Aside from videos, I have spent some time gaming through it and have been very pleased with the results. I get the same graphics quality and framerates through the Link as I normally would playing directly on my PC, and don't notice any input lag even with very fast-paced games.

All that said, I do have a powerful gaming rig and a high-end modem, and also have both my PC and the Steam Link on wired ethernet, so I'm not sure whether lower-end equipment will experience poor performance.

I really can't fault this piece of kit. I used to have 2 PCs main one and secondary in another room, which is made up of old hardware. With the Steam Link I haven't had to use my second PC it's like having two main PCs. It is basically a streaming box but it does a good job of allowing me to play games etc in any room.

I would recommend this for anyone who likes to play in other rooms than where the PC is located.

The SteamLink is an amazing piece of hardware... when it is working. Once I received it, I had a hard time setting up my network to get it to work ( nothing really related to the SL itself though ). With an i7 3770 - Titan X, I decided to use use it wired instead of trying wifi.

With a network cable and high quality settings, I feel like I'm playing on my PC... from my couch. Most of the time I can't tell the difference. The input lag is very small and even FPS play nicely ( thansk to the Steam controller ). You can use mice, keyboards, controllers ( wireless or not ). I tried pluging in a USK key but found no option to access it.

You can connect up to three USB devices. I leave my wireless Steam controller USB dongle on the Steamlink and use the controller with a USB cable on the PC.

Fun fact: you can hide the Steam interface and show your desktop... that way you can wtch movies on your PC in your living room.

I don't really see much of an impact on games performances when playing on the Steamlink instead of the PC ( but my Titan X usually allows for extra performance if needed ).

Issues:

- when it doesn't detect your PC or that Steam is running, you have to reset both sometimes. Sometimes the audio isn't detected and you have to move to your PC and manually un-mute your audio... it can become quite frustrating to move again and again to solve an issue, especially if your PC is at the other end of your appartment/house.

- compatibility with uPlay is usually great but Origin keeps on making things difficult. Unravel doesn't work with the Steamlink or the Steam controller at all ( on purpose ? ). Need for Speed 2015 can be a real pain to get working. EA at is best I guess.

But like the Steam controller, when this is working ,this is a blast. And honestly, don't even bother with the wifi ( my tests were mixed/bad ). Connect your PC and your SL by wire. Then if your computer is up to the task, you'll be able to use the max quality settings and enjoy PC gaming at max quality in your living room.

This thing works great, when it works. The latest build constantly drops the network connection. Apparently this has been known since February and Valve has yet to fix it. The bug with the network connection makes any longer gaming sessions unplayable and games with long distances between save points infuriating. If you have a game you can save often, then go ahead and play. With this current build, however, I would suggest you avoid any games where you might have to replay hours of gameplay due to a faulty network issue.

You pay 50$ for a great streaming device from PC to TV! Beats chromecast in any way. Your dusty TV will finally serve you well with just this thing, HDMI cable and ethernet connection. I mostly stream movies from PC to my TV and use steam controller as a remote for mouse and other clickity stuff. Very satisfied with the purchase. Native 1440p and 2160p resolutions stream as 1080 and its no problem, games still have that feel of the additional antialiasing on the TV Screen. Its a great opportunity to use your living room as a party game room. The Steam Link features 3 3.0 USB Ports and it accepts Steam, xbox and Dualshock controllers (Wired and w/less), I assume it accepts 2 controllers at once (also mouse and keyboard).

This thing is great and for $50 it's a steal. It has hands down the best streaming quality available when wired directly to the router. For gaming, it's spot on. Big Screen mode makes it very similar to a console interface like ps4/xbox with Lossless streaming. The wireless 360 controller works flawlessly with it. For a keyboard, I use a Apple Bluetooth keyboard paired to the steam link for those games where chat is required.

This device also allows for full screen streaming so you can use it for just about anything. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon video etc. Just open a browser, enter full screen and you're done.

If you're on the fence about buying this, just do it. You won't be disappointed.

Steam Link is really great. I'm totally impressed at how close to perfect and solid it is. Stuff works that I wouldn't expect - like I can wake up my steam link using the playstation button on my paired Sony DualShock 4 controller when both are asleep, or when I tried pairing a bluetooth speaker, that just worked and redirected audio to the speaker, and back to the TV when I turned it off, so you can game or watch movies in Kodi late at night without annoying housemates. It's clear a lot of thought has gone in to making this perfect little puck. The place it gets let down is that steam itself on the remote computer can be crashy, especially in big picture mode. You have got to be prepared to restart it from time to time. Chrome Remote Desktop app is a great way to do this from a mobile phone or a nearby laptop, but this is a pretty major failing. I also found my Razer Orochi bluetooth 4.0 mouse unusable - it pairs and works, but updates at about 4fps both in the local Steam Link interface and the streamed remote big picture one, so it's useless for gaming and extremely frustrating even to operate menus.

There are some other improvements valve could make:
• Trackpad support for DS4 controller - they just need to ship with the ds4drv linux driver
• Vibration motor support on DS4 is missing - the interface is documented by the code in DS4Windows - valve could implement that in a day or two of work.
• The link should disconnect and put to sleep bluetooth devices when it goes to sleep - it doesn't currently, so you have to turn them off manually.

Crazy wishlist:
• Gyro Sensor APIs for the DualShock 4 are documented by open source DS4Windows code, and could be used to implement a gyromouse for FPS usage, similar to it's use on the Steam Controller. That'd be awesome!
• It'd be super rad if they built Kodi right in to the firmware, so it'd have some local media centre support. I bet some media geeks would buy them, then end up gaming more because they'd already have the rig for it. Might be profitable as well as being a rad bonus feature for gamers.

Overall? The issues are really minor, and none of them are dealbreakers if you don't mind using a phone to restart steam occasionally. For fifty bucks it's an awesome deal. I really recommend it!

Overall, i really enjoy the steam link. Its extremely useful and handy.
What i like most about it, is that it can bring that console feeling to pc gamers.
I know that does not affect most of you because the point of having a pc is to have a pc, not a console.
Those are you who dont feel like sitting on that hard chair, or are having back pains or any type of isshue in general
this is for you. You can now enjoy gaming while sitting on your couch or laying in bed.
Pros:
- Well made, not a cheap product.
- Great way for bringing pc games to tv.
- Nice small sleek design.
Cons:
- More for wired connections, wireless its a bit of a hassel.
- You're not able to use xbox one adapter on this.
- Lag spikes for wireless
- HDMI Cable included is not really the best.
If you have a slow connection, or you are a wireless connection
i would not recommend getting this.

Although the answer is yes, It truly does depend on your situation. If money is tight and your common room is in a room that cables can't reach easily without integrating your walls into the situation, then get this little black box of tech. WMP does not work that well when opened with Big picture in my experience. looked into KODI, and honestly, KODI works better when it's launched through steam rather then from the desktop. weird but I can't figure out why. This box does seem to be using 4 cores at an average of 20% of my fx-8350 NON OVERCLOCKED, give or take some. That is just playing music aswell, your experience may vary depending on things.
so lets get down to the experience ya.
gaming. whoa buddy. is this a pain in the ♥♥♥ and none of it is the LINKYPOO's fault. see, I initially bought this to play games that don't do so well on a keyboard. JRPG, SIDESCROLLERS< etc... welp, test games,
onikira:demon something: issues come from the game.
bioshock: at first, controller would either not work on start up, or controller would cut out. Opened up ports on my modem and seemed to fix the issue... Which makes no sence because locally your modem should not have communication blocked. but maybe it was an internet thing. idfk.
neptunia:don't judge me: no issue.

controller i'm using is the f310 from logitech. welp, I only seem to get the xbox mirror side of the controller for now. but that's alright. i can adapt. Won't turn the link on though and that should be in future firmware updates if this thing still lives to see more support.

all in all, 7/10. would buy again if the need is the same but would not consider it a must have.

if your more knowledgeable with linux, buy a raspberry pi and you can do pretty much the same thing for a cheaper price. just a pain in the AAA to set up and I aint got that much time everytime i wanna play a game.

cons. THIS IS A BIG ONE. WHERE THE ♥♥♥♥ IS THE GOD DAMN POWER LED EVERY DAMN THING HAS.

Steam Link is, to me, awesome piece of gear. I don't recommend doing bluetooth because of lag. You have to use a LAN line (and the manual even states that it recommends LAN). It plays the games on my 65" LED Tv wich adds twice the fun.

Cons:. it only plays on 1080p while my 32" monitor is 4k. Also (assuming it's not me), it doesn't allow me to use my Mic.

All in all though, Steam link is absolutly fun if you have the Tv size for it. Playing on a decent size tv make the experience so much fun.

I can't recommend the Steam Link *yet*.
It doesn't seem quite ready.
The computer I'm streaming from is running Ubuntu.
Currently, if you have more than one monitor, it won't work correctly. It can't seem to handle that and the display will go to a random monitor when you start a game.

So, I disabled one monitor and then had different results with different games.
Steam itself works fine on the TV. It's just when starting a game where it seems to choke.

- I tried playing SOMA. As soon as it loads, the display goes back to the computer monitor but the sound keeps coming from the TV.
- I tried playing Metro 2033. The display stays on the TV no problem but the sound reverts to coming out of the computer speakers.
- I gave up for the time being.

I'm sure once all the bugs are worked out, this will be awesome. Until then though, it's unusable in it's current state.
I'm waiting for the next update and hope it clears up these issues.
