Daisuke Sekimoto

Daisuke Sekimoto is one of the current aces of Big Japan and the promotion’s most accomplished active tag team wrestler. Only Ryuji Yamakawa has won more Big Japan Tag Team Championships than Sekimoto’s 5. He is also a former Big Japan Heavyweight Champion. Unlike most of his BJW counterparts, he perfers traditional wrestling matches over ultra-violent hardcore and death matches. He is known for his incredible strength and impressive physique and was presented with the Tokyo Sports Award in 2007 for his outstanding professional wrestling skills. He is also the managing director of Muscle Factory Gym at the BJW Dojo in Yokohama. He also is perhaps Big Japan’s unofficial puroresu ambassador, as he frequently appears in other promotions and has even made a few US appearances. Sekimoto’s most recent expansion took him to DDT, where he won the KO-D Openweight Championship in February 2010. He also returned to the US in April 2010 to participate in the annual KING OF TRIOS tournament, helping promotion mates Kankuro Hoshino & Yuji Okabayashi reach the tournament semifinals. Sekimoto also continued an incredibly successful 2010 in September, when he added the ZERO1 World Heavyweight Title to an impressive list of accomplishments.
Sekimoto continued his recent impressive run in spring 2011 when he & Yuji Okabayashi made a successful trip to All-Japan capped off by winning the All-Asia Tag Team Title in March. In addition to now-regular appearances in All-Japan he also won ZERO1’s annual Fire Festival in summer 2011 and also became the first NWA Pan-Pacific Premium Heavyweight Champion as a result.
