OVERVIEW

The focus of Turning Point High School includes:

  • Provide a quality education in a safe and structured learning environment
  • Partner with parents to ensure student success
  • Assist students with behavioral modification
  • Assist students in regaining lost credits
  • Seek to reduce Drug & Alcohol student return rates
  • Assist in providing a smooth transition between schools
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As Principal of Turning Point High School, I am excited to serve as leader of an awesome group of dedicated staff members, who strive to provide a quality education for all students.  Thank you for visiting our website.  Here are some of the goals that we work toward daily:

  • Serve as positive role models for our students
  • Help each student realize their full academic potential
  • Address the social/behavioral needs of our students
  • Provide counseling support if needed or desired
  • Encourage each student to graduate from High School
  • Provide daily social skills in order to assist students in making good decisions

As a District Alternative Education Program, our students are all referred to us for violation of the Student Code of Conduct.  As the Principal, my personal goal is to let each of my students know that they may have made a bad decision, but that they are not bad kids.

CELEBRATING COMMUNITY

TPHS THANKS Connect Church, Pastor Jay McFadden and staff for their Community Partnership!  Connect Church has provided TPHS staff and student T-shirts as well as many breakfast/lunches for staff meetings throughout the year!  We appreciate your generosity!

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT

TPHS is strongly invested in the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) program.  The purpose of this proactive behavior management system is to decrease behavior problems in the school, as well as providing staff a full range of positive strategies for correcting disruptive behavior once it has occurred.

Rules and student expectations are clearly posted in all classrooms, hallways, restrooms, along with the cafeteria.  Students are shown what these expected behaviors look and sound like in the short video series on this home page.
