Welcome to Roman Egypt

At the moment mainly Mons Claudianus.

These images of Mons have come from two visits. Initially in 1986 when Lesley and I were working in Egypt. More recently a visit in 1998 on our return journey from Pakistan to England. (Click here for that story)

Mons, fortunately benefits from being off the beaten track and having bery few items that are worth taking - apart from a broken 40 ton pillar!

Whatever, as with all sites of this nature it is in constant decline, mostly from the elements but potentially suffers every time it is visited - if you do have the priviledge of going, leave it as you found it..
