General Resources
- Provides an extensive list of works in both English and Italian about Italian cinema in general, as well as on specific filmmakers.
- Cinecittà studios opened in in Rome in 1937. It is considered to be the center of Italian film production. Its site acts as a portal to the Italian film industry with information on upcoming festivals, films, and events, but also features interviews with prominent figures in the industry. It offers online access to its journal, Rivista Cinecittà.
- One of Italy's leading newspapers. Its section on Spettacoli & Cultura contains a wealth of information on current films.
Institutions & Associations
- A project that aims to make the national Italian film archives available online. At the moment only the following archives are available: Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Cineteca Nazionale, Centro Audiovisivo della Regione Lazio, Mediateca della Regione Toscana and the Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio.
- Associazione Nazionale Industrie Cinematografiche Audiovisive e Multimediali's site offers information on existing legislation in the cinema sector, festivals, statistics, education and training. It also contains links on European film organized by country. Its archive currently allows you to search for films from 1905-2005 by title and for films after 1990 by personal names.
- The official website of the Direzione Generale Cinema provided by the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali.
- Italy's oldest public institution for the diffusion of film for didactic and informational purposes. Its site acts as an online archive of film footage covering major historical and political events of the twentieth century. It has thousands of cinema newsreels and documentaries available to view using Windows Media Player
- The Cineteca was set up by the city of Bologna with the objective of finding and restoring old films, producing new films, organizing festivals, and providing information and research facilities for film scholars. The site allows access to its OPAC.
- Located in Turin, the museum is the only one of its kind in Italy. Its website offers primarily information on the museum collections and current exhibits and projects but it also provides access to it its journal Museo Nazionale del Cinema: la rivista del cinema.
- Jesuit institute founded in 1959. This site maintains news on cinema and schedules for cinematic cultural activities, conferences, and film courses.

- One of the best Italian online magazines on film and home video that contains reviews, books, soundtracks, and images.
- A born-digital film magazine from Florence.
- A film magazine that collects film reviews from the Italian and foreign press (including Variety and Cahiers du cinéma in Italian translation).
- The homepage offers full-text access to the most significant articles from each print issue.
- The online version of a print journal that includes a selection of articles on film, theater, and television.
- Online Italian magazine of cinematographic criticism and news.

- Contains information on all types of international films, including names of cast, variant titles, and reviews.

Festivals
- An Italian website dedicated to film festivals.
- Site of Italy's most internationally renowned and prominent festival.
- Claims to be "one of the world's six top festivals" devoted to the promotion of new filmmakers who have been recognized internationally. Contains useful links about the festival.
- Festival for short films takes place in Siena each November.
- Sponsored by the Cultural Association DAUNBAILO located in Luguria and founded in 1997 to promote cinematographic culture of the region. This festival is considered one of the best festivals in Italy.
- Official site for producers, filmmakers, professionals, and experts organized under the Association FERT and the European Documentary from Southern Europe.
Actors & Directors
- Site maintained by Italy's state television and radio stations, RAI. It provides an array of interesting resources, including film. Some of the resources are available in English or Spanish, but view the site in Italian if you want access to all the information.
- Exclusively about Italy's most famous director of horror films. It includes biographical information, a database of films, links, and reviews.
- Official site dedicated to the life and works of Federico Fellini.

- Luchino Visconti website
- Entirely dedicated to life and works of Visconti.
- An archive that offers a filmography, forum, books on the director, and essays.
- Official site of the Amici di Vittorio de Sica, whose main objective is the restoration of his films; however the site is currently under construction.
- Unofficial page devoted to the actor with an archive, links on his personal life and his works. This webpage contains search engines.
- Marcello Mastroianni (1924-1996) was one of the most popular international stars in movie history.
