Alexandra Shulman, OBE

Editor-in-Chief, BRITISH Vogue

Alexandra Shulman remains at the heart of UK fashion as the longest-serving editor of British Vogue to date, having spent 23 years at the helm. With journalists for parents, Shulman claims that the prospect of becoming a writer was her ‘idea of a nightmare’, and that she wanted to be a hairdresser instead, but she began her career at Tatler before eventually becoming editor at GQ. At Vogue, Shulman has overseen a number of iconic issues, including its bestselling Millennium Edition featuring a mirrored front cover. She refuses to publish diets or articles about cosmetic surgery and has called for designers to make larger sample sizes to help address the problem of anorexia amongst models. Shulman regards herself as a businesswoman and journalist first and fashion editor second. She published her first novel in 2012; her second, The Parrots, followed in 2015.
