Fiona Kotur-Marin

Handbag designer Fiona Kotur-Marin brought back the minaudière – a small, decorative clutch – at a time when the market was saturated with oversized bags, garnering international attention for her eponymous brand. Her playful, witty and sophisticated designs work with both haute couture and ready-to-wear fashion, and her bags and now shoes can be seen at red carpet events around the world. A former designer of handbags and luggage for Ralph Lauren, and of women’s accessories for Old Navy, in 2002 Kotur-Marin moved with her family to Hong Kong where she set up sourcing and manufacturing relationships for designer Tory Burch. She started Kotur from her apartment in 2004, creating a line of quirky evening clutches from 1960s and ’70s couture fabrics she found in a Kowloon mill. As Hong Kong has become a bigger player in the fashion and art worlds, Kotur-Marin has established a loyal client base that appreciates her bold graphics and east-west fusion designs.
