Sarah Rutson

Spotter of both trends and new design talent, Sarah Rutson is the fashion director responsible for the rebranding of highly influential Hong Kong-based luxury department store Lane Crawford, and for transforming the women’s contemporary department into a global boutique of hip international designers. Her role entailed the sometimes difficult job of educating and enticing the world’s largest group of luxury consumers, the mainland Chinese, to the more than 160-year-old store. Rutson landed her first retail job at 16 in the UK when she was still at school, and began her over 30-year career in fashion as a buyer at Marks & Spencer. She is now the vice-president of global buying for online couture discounter Net-a-Porter.
