Morning Dress and Suits
Morning attire remains the accepted British dress code for weddings, although alternatives include suits and black tie.
Day suits are a low-key alternative to morning dress, and ideally should be mid-grey, charcoal grey or navy blue.
Traditionally, all members of the groom's party - the groom, best man and ushers - follow a set dress code. The fathers of the bride and groom often follow this code too.
As a general rule, the groom will pay for his own attire. These days he is not expected to pay for anyone else but, if budget allows, it is a nice gesture.
It is popular to have the groom's party's waistcoats and ties specially made for the wedding. The colour theme that is being used throughout the day should be picked out where possible.
It is usual to wear a morning coat throughout the day; should a change into black tie for the reception be required, this should be stated clearly on the invitation.
Guests should also be made aware of the dress code.
