Find Makarov: The Live Action Adaptation of Modern Warfare

Last week's mysterious countdown has ended with what looks like a Call of Duty movie trailer.

A countdown at FindMakarov.com last week led to speculation that Activision was planning to announce Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 today. It seemed like a good guess, but that possibility was subsequently shot down by a company spokesperson. The countdown has ended and the site now redirects to the trailer above for what looks like an (obviously unofficial) Modern Warfare movie.

It's unclear exactly what Find Makarov is. We got in touch with its creators, We Can Pretend, and were told that they "can't reveal too much at this point in time." They have been in touch with Activision regarding the project but can't talk about what was discussed.

When asked if the story is a continuation of Modern Warfare 2 where Makarov was not killed, I was simply told "it's a live action adaptation of the Modern Warfare narrative."

The fact that We Can Pretend has spoken with Activision would suggest that the video won't be removed from YouTube over copyright issues. Perhaps this was a trial to gauge public interest or to try and earn Activision's support for a full-fledged film, similar to the Mortal Kombat trailer that surfaced on YouTube last year. Whatever the case may be, the Makarov trailer looks pretty impressive and I'm hoping we end up seeing more.

Honestly, there are much better shooters that should become movies, like Killzone or Borderlands.   There really isnt anything special about the CoD narrative that hasn't already been done in film in some shape or fashion.

...obviously fan made, or made by a company to make it look fan made.  MW has spawned a few good fan-fic videos that should open doors for the younglings making them.  I hope this is fan made, I'd hate to think the big companies are getting on the "cheap production value" wagon.  Then what will the little guy do?

Besides, Shepard IS Lance Henrikson.  No other can do it justice...

    ...maybe Robert Patrick.

  • This trailer is what I wanted from the DOOM movie!

Posted: Mar 02, 2011 12:00AM PST by  Indygo

The only good part of DOOM was the FPS Scenes and that was

barely worth the price of what I payed to see it in theaters.  I may

not have played COD, but the trailer makes me want to see this

movie even if it's all in First Person view.  PLEASE MAKE THIS

    MOVIE!

Yeah This looks like a fan vid look at the way Sheperds beret is formed at 1:12. If this was official I think Activision could get somebody to properly shape a beret.

I Hooah, that. His hat looks like Chief Boyardee's. Hey General, I love your ravioli's. BTW You'd figure that a three star general would know how to shape a baret but, you'd be surprised.

I say it's a game coming. I don't feel that passes for an actual movie trailer.  Maybe another web mini series. I didn't care for the trailer.

as I hate Call of Duty for the mass produced for the lowest common denominator piece of shit game it is......I admit that this is a very well done trailer.

  • I hope it's a MW3 tie-in.

Gets me pumped for MW3. I hope they follow up with America's invasion of Russia and the SAS's search for Makarov as shown in the live action video.

It's nice to see embarrassing fan films are no longer the sole forte of suburban white kids.
