The 5AT group were also pleased to meet the new Clan President, Jim Baldwin and John Graham from their Certification Body, providing them with a overview of the group’s history, and an account of the recent successful application of a Lempor exhaust to the KWVR S160.

The meeting concluded with a presentation of the initial 3D modelling work carried out by the 5AT group to define the original design, which has served to highlight some dimensional errors on the original BR drawings.

Geoff Turner, Engineering Director of the Clan Project commented: “Our membership are fully supportive of maximising the performance and efficiency of our Clan locomotive whilst retaining its distinctive appearance. Agreeing the scope of the Feasibility Study and performance specification is the first major step along this road.

John Hind, Chairman of the 5AT Group commented: "Now the scope of the Feasibility Study is confirmed our team can press on with the calculations and 3D CAD modelling to understand how the performance of the Clan be improved."

Note: The Standard Steam Locomotive Company Ltd (parent body of the Clan Project) was set up with the objective of building the 11^th BR Standard Class 6 'Clan' locomotive.
