Promotion of the project has been undertaken in a number of ways, not least through the establishment of a project website.   Other methods of promoting the project include publication of articles and letters in leading (and minor) publications and making presentations at conferences and to local group and society meetings.

A number of models of the 5AT locomotive, both physical and virtual, have been created by supporters and people interested in the project, and of course a large number of magnificent paintings have been made by the well known railway author and artist, Robin Barnes.

Interest has also been generated by seeking opinions as to liveries that the locomotive might best carry, and in future, opinions will be sought regarding the important task of finding a suitable name for the locomotive.
