It’s now possible to connect two 4K monitors to a PC at full 60Hz via Intel’s exciting new Thunderbolt™ 3 technology. Certified Thunderbolt 3 Dual Display Adapters from Plugable with this capability are shipping today. Note that only specific Thunderbolt 3 PCs have dual display support, so you’ll need to check your PC model before purchase. Units are available today in the USA, with Europe, Canada, and Japan following shortly.
There are two Plugable models for different monitor/TV types, the Plugable TBT3-DP2X Dual DisplayPort Display Adapter and the Plugable TBT3-HDMI2X Dual HDMI Display Adapter.
Housed in durable, lightweight custom aluminum enclosures the adapters take advantage of the 40Gbps bandwidth afforded by the Thunderbolt 3 interface to allow two displays to be simultaneously connected to supported systems and make use of the internal graphics processor for GPU-native performance, all without loading any drivers and in a compact form factor that can easily fit in most any laptop bag.
Designed for the customer with need for the utmost level of performance, the Plugable TBT3-DP2X allows for two native DisplayPort displays to be connected at up to 4K resolution (4096 x 2160) at a 60Hz refresh rate. And even more extreme, this adapter is one of the best and only ways to drive 5K displays like the 5120×2880 Dell UltraSharp 27 — this uses both of the Plugable TBT3-DP2X DisplayPort connectors to drive a single 5K monitor.
For those with HDMI only displays, our TBT3-HDMI2X allows for two HDMI 2.0 displays to be connected at up to 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) at a 30Hz refresh rate.
Our adapters are currently recommended for specific Thunderbolt 3 PCs which have up to date firmware and dual display support, which is most Dell and HP models but currently limited for other brands.
