THE student co-founder of the group campaigning to have a statue of Cecil Rhodes removed from an Oxford college has compared the French tricolore to the Nazi swastika and refused to say that Isis is worse than the French state.

Ntokozo Qwabe, 24, a law graduate who won a Rhodes scholarship to the university, defended his efforts to remove what he described as a “disgusting” statue of the Victorian tycoon. Qwabe said the effigy in Oriel College depicts a “racist, genocidal maniac” who was “as bad as Hitler”.
