New DivX Plus documentation
Hi folks,
We've added some information to developer.divx.com that includes technical details of features supported/tested on DivX Plus HD devices. The first is a navigational aid called Smooth FF/RW aimed at providing an improved fast-forward and rewind experience on devices as a trade-off for a little file size overhead. It also enables instant-preview when seeking in a desktop player. The information on the developer site includes all of the EBML syntax for this feature and illustrations of how the Smooth FF/RW data is connected to the main video track. The second is an enhancement for subtitle handling that allows attached fonts to be reliably loaded by devices, even with tight memory requirements, to ensure a correct display in any language. The feature also benefits DivX Web Player for serving files to global viewers. The information on the developer site details an optimization technique that minimizes font data size and documents the desired/tested structure for linking an optimized font and its corresponding subtitle track.
