Tell Me More
Eddie V’s is an upscale seafood restaurant and bar on 5th and San Jacinto. Happy hour is available nightly in the “V Lounge” and fills up fast, so come early if you want a seat. The lounge is dark, brooding and classy, with soft lighting provided by battery-powered lamps at each linened table and live jazz performed every night. Servers contribute to the upscale feel with their white dinner jackets and attentive service. Eddie V’s is the kind of bar where Don Draper might go to scheme and sip Old Fashioneds, and this is evidenced by the clientele, who are mostly older and clad in business attire. Speaking of Old Fashioneds, sadly, the happy hour menu doesn’t include any whiskey-based cocktails. But, the cocktails that are offered shine, and are made with premium ingredients. They also lean toward strong; the Classic Martini will kick your butt. The wines by the glass are varied and, unless you are incredibly picky, at least one should strike your fancy. Food offerings are honestly my favorite part of this happy hour, because the food is excellent and fresh. It’s hard to beat $1 oysters on the half shell. The calamari is a heaping portion served kung pao style and, though I haven’t had them, the word is that the batterfried oysters are delicious. Really, all of the food is delicious, and I recommend getting a few plates to enjoy with your drinks.
Cheers!

P.S. Please excuse the low-quality photos; Eddie V's is definitely not a good place to go for the selfie-obsessed!
