The Creative Communities Scheme supports and encourages local communities to create and present diverse opportunities for accessing and participating in arts* activities within their specific geographical area and for defined communities** of interest.

** A community may be based around a place, a cultural tradition, or commonly held interests or experience.

Eligibility

Projects must:

  • Have an arts or cultural focus.
  • Take place within Christchurch and or benefit the city.
  • Benefit local communities.
  • Not have started before an application for funding has been assessed.
  • Not have been funded by Creative New Zealand for the same purpose.
  • Projects must meet at least one of the following funding criteria:
    • create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activities
    • support diversity in the arts and cultural traditions
    • enable and encourage young people (under 18 years of age) to engage with and actively participate in the art

Opening and closing dates for this fund are:

  • Round One: Opens for applications July 13th 2016 and closes August 24th 2016 (for projects commencing after 1 November that year)
  • Round Two: Opens for applications January 13th 2017 and closes February 24th 2017 (for projects commencing after 1 May that year).

There are no exceptions to the closing dates.

The online application form will allow you to save while working on the application along with attaching supporting documents at the same time. Only fully completed ONLINE applications submitted before the closing date will be processed.


Accountability

Please be aware that all recipients of Creative Communities Scheme assistance are required to:

  1. Acknowledge the Creative Communities Scheme in any promotional material by using the scheme logo that is specific to your area - download from here.
  2. Acknowledge the assistance of the scheme verbally at event openings, performances and so on; and
  3. Complete and return a project report form within two months after the project is completed. If this is not done you will not be eligble for future funding. (This form will be e-mailed directly to you and a copy is below)
