SpaceX won't launch its first rocket until 2018, but residents living in the community have already seen changes in their neighborhood that they're not happy with.

Noticing the recent traveling of trucks down Highway 4, some say they are worried for their safety and security.

"I was on my bike right in front here, trying to get to the mailbox from and I was coming from St. Marten and I got double whammied with two dump trucks and it totally knocked me over," said Boca Chica Village resident Maria Pointer.

"Just a few weeks ago we had a fatality just down the road here on that curb. The trucks are going crazy," resident Terry Heaton said.

When asked for comment, SpaceX officials stated that they have addressed these concerns. They said that some drivers working for the contractor were fired in January and that two more were fired in April.

Officials told CBS 4 News they have made it clear to the contractor that if this continues, they will completely end their contract with them.

Residents are also concerned for their homes. Some say they not only want to see visible signage along the roads, but around the construction site to clearly mark what is and is not SpaceX property.

"There's no way to tell what SpaceX is so they are always stopping at our house, they walk around our house, they take pictures of our house, " Pointer said.

SpaceX officials say they have ordered more signage and will be placing more as construction moves forward.

Officials say trucks will not be passing by for several months since phase one of soil stabilization has completed.

TXDOT mentioned they will not only be rehabilitating the road for existing deficiencies that have come from the increase in traffic, but will also widen the road in the future.
