2016 Call for proposals for LIFE Grants under both sub-programmes (for Environment and for Climate Action)

19 May 2016 2016 Call for proposals for LIFE Grants under both sub-programmes (for Environment and for Climate Action) – was launched on 19 May 2015.

The Commission invites legal persons (entities) registered in the European Union (EU) to present proposals for the 2016 Call for proposals for LIFE Action Grants. The call covers proposals for both LIFE sub-programmes.

For the sub-programme for Environment, this call will cover action grants for "Traditional" projects, Preparatory projects, Integrated projects, Technical Assistance projects.

For the sub-programme for Climate Action, this call will cover action grants for "Traditional projects", Integrated projects, Technical Assistance projects.

Proposals may be submitted by legal persons (entities) registered in the EU. Applicants may fall into three types of beneficiaries: (1) public bodies, (2) private commercial organisations and (3) private non-commercial organisations (including NGOs).

Update on the evaluation of LIFE Call 2015

04 February 2016 The evaluation of the 2015 proposals is progressing on time. EASME foresees the following indicative dates for the next steps:

  • Letter to the applicants informing them on the results of the evaluation: Mid-March 2016 (CLIMA Sub-Programme) – Mid-April (ENVIRONMENT Sub-Programme)
  • Start of the revision phase for the pre-selected proposals: Mid-March 2016 (CLIMA Sub-Programme) – Mid-April 2016 (ENVIRONMENT Sub-Programme)
  • Signature of grant agreements: June-July 2016

Remaining national allocations for the Environment sub-programme after the 2014 Call

According to the LIFE Regulation (Art. 9), the Commission shall ensure geographical balance for projects submitted under the sub-programme for Environment, by proportionately distributing funds among all Member States according to indicative national allocations.

The table attached below indicates the remaining national allocations for the Environment sub-programme for the duration of the first multiannual work programme, after taking into account the results of the 2014 selection. Where indicative national allocations are not applicable, projects shall be selected exclusively on the basis of merit.
