55,975 bumiputera pupils in Chinese schools

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 16, 2010): Bumiputera accounted for 9.15% or 55,975 of pupils enrolled in Chinese national type primary schools and preschools nationwide, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Sarawak had the highest number of bumiputera pupils enrolment in Chinese schools, numbering about 16,430 followed by Sabah (12,138) and Johor (4,917).

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said this in a written reply to a question from Teresa Kok (DAP-Seputeh). — Bernama
