The United States of America (U.S.A) is federal republic that consists of 50 states. Located on the continent of North America, the U.S.A is one of the most powerful countries in the world. It encompasses 3,794,101 square miles of land and boarders the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast and the Pacific Ocean on the west coast. The capitol of the United States is Washington D.C. and the country is led by a President, not a king. The national anthem is “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The United States has a generally high quality of living since it is considered both a first world nation and a superpower. The national language is English and the national bird is the Bald Eagle. The U.S. dollar is the national currency.

The United States of America officially declared its independence from England—and became a free country—on July 4, 1776. Although America has a shorter history than many European and Asian nations, it still has a rich background and many beautiful scenic locations.
