Kick off the 2011 Kindergarten Admissions Season (yes, preparation for Fall of 2011 begins the Tuesday after Labor Day 2010), by going to a screening of Kindergarten Shuffle on September 1 at the Anthology Film Archives on 32 Second Avenue in New York City.
The Kindergarten Shuffle is a 93 minute docudrama that follows a mother and her friends through the public and private school process, complete with IQ tests, playdates and interviews.
Writer/Director Douglas Morse drew upon his experience applying to schools with his son Zeke, and the stories of several friends, to recreate the very difficult year of searching for the best kindergarten. He chose to share his knowledge in an informative and entertaining way mixing actors and non-actors in both fictional and documentary settings.
