In October 2013 I was appointed to the No 10 Policy Board, a group of backbenchers tasked with discussing and formulating potential new policies from colleagues, and feeding them in to the Government. I was given the brief of 'Public Services', along with Paul Uppal MP and Chris Skidmore MP. This included areas such as Health, Education, Families and Civil Service Reform.

Over the course of my involvement we held a series of roundtables and drop in events with colleagues, and worked through dozens of policy ideas and initiatives before presenting them to the Policy Board at our regular meetings.

The Policy Board is designed to work in a similar way to the Conservative Policy Forum, which encourages all associations to hold regular discussions about specific policy areas and submit their views to the central party.
