Part 17
The week without Amel passed slowly for little Diff because she missed him, but for Perry the week went by even slower; she couldn’t handle this child and she knew it. A Vrellish child was not like a normal child. And this Vrellish child was bored.
“Gramma,” Alivda said from the top of the bookshelf. “Let’s do something! Something fun!”
“Oh no!” Perry said, thinking about the last time.
“I’m bored!” Alivda said, now swinging from a light fixture on the ceiling.
“Then be bored,” Perry said, while she thought, only three more days.
Alivda made a sound that Perry could only compare to the cry of a wild animal and jumped back on the bookshelf. There was a loud crack, and the bookshelf collapsed.
Perry just stared at it; no emotion registered on her face, she was too numb with shock for that.
Alivda went crashing to the ground with the books, but her cat-like agility made her land gracefully on top without a scratch on her.
She giggled, finally entertained, while standing on the pile of books and before Perry could even get up, she had started going through them.
