CRITICIZED: The wife of Interior Minister Hacer Basesgioglu and the wife of Forestry Minister Melek Taranoglu were criticized by the media as they were received with state ceremony on their visit to Mersin. Several measures were taken by police and traffic was stopped in order for the ministers' wives to travel easily within the city. CRITICIZED: The wife of Interior Minister Hacer Basesgioglu and the wife of Forestry Minister Melek Taranoglu were criticized by the media as they were received with state ceremony on their visit to Mersin. Several measures were taken by police and traffic was stopped in order for the ministers' wives to travel easily within the city. The inhabitants could not understand the reason for such a large police presence and wondered if the President was in Mersin.

FOOTBALL PLAYER: The Galatasaray football team player HAKAN UNSAL , aged 25, got married recently in a modest wedding ceremony to Ayla Sukas. Friends and family attended to the ceremony.

PASSED AWAY: Former Prime Minister NAIM TALU has passed away. Talu's funeral was held last weekend. Talu was born in 1919 in Istanbul. He was a graduate of the Istanbul University Economics department and worked at the Central Bank in various posts between 1946-1966. Talu served as the Chairman of the Central Bank between 1966- 1971, and served as trade minister between 1971-1973 and prime minister between 1973-1974. He was the chairman of the board of directors of Akbank for 22 years.

PASSED AWAY: Well-known artist SEVIM TANUREK , who was hit by Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Recep Tayyip Erdogan's son, Ahmet Burak Erdogan, was being held in intensive care for some time. However, the 64-year-old artist recently passed away. Tanurek's husband said that although they knew her health condition was in question, he did not expect her death. "I want Erdogan to be punished. I have heard that in order for me to forgive him TL 20 billion blood money was handed over. This is very sad and it is not true. I went to the police department in Sisli and learned that Erdogan did not even have a licence. There cannot be forgiveness with money."
