  • Hillary Clinton announced the selection of Senator Tim Kaine as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate in a text message to supporters Friday.
  • She believes Mr. Kaine, a battleground state politician with working-class roots and fluency in Spanish, could boost her chances to defeat Donald J. Trump in November.
