It’s a clash of three diametrically opposite small budget films at the box-office today. And the winner to emerge after the weekend collections ,will become the sleeper hit movie of the week.

And if one were to go purely by the buzz created in the past few days, Nil Battey Sannata looks to be the one with an upper hand. The trailer has been extremely well-received and those who have seen it can’t stop raving about the storyline and performances of the lead actors including Swara Bhaskar and young Ria Shukla. The story of the movie revolves around a mother and her teenage daughter with education playing the pivot in between them. For Swara, the movie presents a golden opportunity to emerge from the shadows of her sisterly roles and showcase her acting prowess.

Amid row, Santa Banta to release today

Laal Rang has Randeep Hooda in the lead role and newcomers Pia Bajpai and Meenakshi Dixit playing the female leads. The movie is about a Haryanvi gangster and staying true to Randeep’s repertoire, this one too is replete with some hard hitting dialogues and violence. Strangely enough, the movie has not exactly been promoted aggressively.

Billed as a rib-tickling comedy, Santa Banta Pvt Ltd will bring alive the fictitious world of Santa Banta Sardar jokes that have dominated public consciousness for a long time. With comedy going down the drain lately, one can only hope for this film to bring in some much needed fresh comic relief. What brings cheer is the casting which comprises of talented actors who excel in comic roles namely Boman Irani, Vir Das, Vijay Raaz, Ram Kapoor, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever and two beauties in the form of Neha Dhupia and Lisa Haydon.

It remains to be seen which one will finally laugh its way to the bank- a societal drama(Nil Battey Sannata), a violence-filled story(Laal Rang) or a laugh-riot(Santa Banta Pvt Ltd).
