Re: Emails not being replied to/ IA not responsive |
There are not clear channels of communication currently set up. This has been a difficulty for quite some time. Is Jeff Kaplin a/the ADMIN, or just an occasional help-meet?
My query is that a poster, by clicking on their handle, would be able to access all of their posts- and this is no longer the case. One's past archive of posts only goes six months back, so if one has been using their handle as a sort of library onto itself, or have been posting here for some time- then you can not access your archive.... on the Internet Archive.
A big improvement for '15 for this site would be to establish clear lines of communication for all reasonable requests and queries. As it stands now, if one does not get a response (a fairly likely outcome) it feels like a FU, when it is most likely it is an internal issue that has nothing to do with the specific query.

Re: Emails not being replied to/ IA not responsive |
you can access all your posts. for instance:
https://archive.org/iathreads/forum-display.php?poster=micah6vs8&;&limit=5000
show all yours.
the staff is as responsive as possible. as a non-profit library we operate with a very lean staff.
i will pass along your concerns. we do appreciate feedback.

Now that one worked! Thank-you JK! (Can I just replace the limit # to 6k or higher?)
I have sympathy for the lean staff and appreciate all the help you (and Tracy & greenone) give.
However sometimes, if one has a concern, it seems that there is no clear way of communicating w/ IA. The old hands know the places to post that would up our chances of getting a response, but it may be useful for all to have a place where reasonable questions can be fairly certain of getting an answer.
Thanks for all the help you give many IA'ers through the year(s). S.
