Biography:
The eldest of three children, Massey was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
He grew up in a political family. His father, Lewis Massey, was once Secretary of State of Georgia; while his grandfather, Abit Massey, was a well-known lobbyist.
Massey, however, never had political aspirations. He was bitten by the acting bug at a young age, when he appeared in his fifth grade school play, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
He continued to pursue acting at Norcross High School, joining the Drama Club. “My first play there was How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying,” recounts Massey. “I played J. Pierpont Finch. I idolized Robert Morse, who played Finch on Broadway and in the movie.” Massey also appeared in a number of other school productions, including Little Shop of Horrors, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Guys and Dolls.
Upon graduating high school in May 2009, Massey headed to Los Angeles to attend UCLA and pursue his career dream. He quickly landed guest spots on One Tree Hill, Army Wives, and Eastbound & Down. Then, in December, he auditioned for the role of Will Horton on Days of Our Lives and won the job.
During his four years on Days of our Lives, Massey was praised for his honest and soulful portrayal of Lucas and Sami's gay son. In fact, he won three consecutive Daytime Emmy Awards, while on the soap: Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Massey chose to leave the soap in 2014. At the time, he said, "I want to go back to school. I want to graduate. I want to have a degree and then maybe see [what happens]. I just want to keep moving forward."
When he’s not working, Massey has number hobbies. He enjoys reading, playing video games and board games, and tinkering on the piano. “I have a keyboard at home and will spend hours in the evening playing or composing,” he says. As for sports and exercise, he loves playing ultimate frisbee and doing “anything cross fit. It’s all about functional fitness, like old school flipping tires over and stuff like that.
Massey currently resides in Los Angeles.
