Jaideep Shenoy | TNN | Aug 6, 2016, 06.04 PM ISTMANGALURU: Close on the heels of a search and rescue (SAR) mounted for fishermen off Nethrani Island in Bhatkal, Indian Coast Guard on Saturday undertook a similar mission off Kotepura near the old port here. Incidentally, even as the search for missing fisherman from sunken boat Guru Anugraha off Bhatkal is in progress, the Coastal Security Police reported another incident of boat capsizing to Indian Coast Guard authorities at Karnataka Headquarters here.
Fishing boat Sathi Savitri with three fishermen had capsized at 11.35am off Kotepura near Old Port Mangalore. The boat had left Malpe three days ago and was heading towards Mangaluru. While one fisherman swam and reached the shore near old port, Mangalore, Coast Guard Karnataka on receipt of the information, diverted its helicopter from the assigned area for the search and rescue of the other two missing fishermen. Out of these two, one more managed to reach ashore.
Noting that one fisherman is still missing, Coast Guard Karnataka stated it is leaving no stone unturned for his safety. The search is in progress.
