'Kanachur Institute to commence MBBS course in next academic year'

MANGALURU: Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences will commence MBBS course with an intake of 150 students in the next academic year, said chairman U K Monu.


He told reporters that the institute has received nod from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to open medical course with 150 seats. Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre of the institute has all the state-of-the-art medical facilities. "The construction of 1,000 bed hospital buildings has been progressing and four floors with provisions for accommodation of 350 beds have been completed. We have the best inpatient/ outpatient, casualty block, ICUs, neonatal ICUs, radiology block with all modern equipment including CT Scan, central laboratory, operation theatre block and blood bank. We will not be charging from patients for consultation and beds for one year in the hospital," Monu said adding that the new facilities at the hospital will be inaugurated on February 22.


Minister for forest, environment and ecology B Ramanath Rai, minister for health and family welfare UT Khader, minister for fisheries, sports and youth empowerment K Abhaychandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim, chairman of Azeezia Medical College, Kollam, Haji Abdul Azeez, SCDCC Bank chairman MN Rajendra Kumar, Karnataka Bank managing director Jayaram Bhat and general physician Mohammed Ismail will be the guests at the inaugural ceremony, he said adding that a free medical check-up camp will be held on February 22.
