K-12 Edtech Conferences You Need To Know For 2016-2017

By Mary Jo Madda, Molly Levitt and Patrícia Gomes

The education world—and the edtech community—have plenty of conferences. At EdSurge, we love to attend them, write about them and  share upcoming events on our site here.

Last year, we decided to pull together a list of the leading 40 or so convenings for educators and edtech entrepreneurs and executives, and share it with our readers. And this year, we're back to do it again!

By the way, here's a FAQ about our illustration. Enjoy!

Your illustration says 2016-2017: When do these events occur?

Most of these events typically take place annually, usually during the same season. On the alphabetical list of conferences, we've given you the relevant dates from now, summer 2016 through next year July 2017.

A conference calendar for you!

Green, red, orange, blue: What do these colors mean?

Of course, anyone can attend any conference. However, we've designated the primary audience for these events: Blue events are built around educators, but some of these events involve exhibitor halls. Brown events emphasize the business of edtech more than pedagogy. Orange events are more tightly focused around a topic or specific audience, such as libraries or community colleges.

Your link took me to a conference that already happened or doesn’t exist yet. What gives?

Don’t worry—we confirmed with conference organizers all dates for future events that weren't yet listed on their site.

Aw, you left out my favorite event!

Sorry about that! Feel free to add a comment on this piece with details about the event you like the best, or shoot us an email at  feedback@edsurge.com.

This is all about K-12 conferences... What about higher education conferences?

We put out a calendar for higher education conferences a few months ago—check it out!

Will you update this presentation in the future?

If enough folks find this a handy chart, we'd be happy to do an update. Just let us know!
