Canada has signed on to become one of the countries in the world that help sick people die.

The decision was brought in by a 44-28 vote by Senators in Canada's House of Commons.

According to the Toronto StarCanada has approved of assisted dying for strictly critically ill Canadian people.

Although many campaigned for the inclusion of people with degenerative conditions be included in the bill, the right to die will only apply to those who are gravely ill.

Canadian Minister for Justice Jody Wilson-Raybould and Minister for Health Jane Philpott jointly spoke of the positive effects the decision will invoke:

"It gives dying patients who are suffering intolerably while in decline on a path toward death the choice of a medically assisted death."
