DPA Trio Complete Sydney Field
CODY HARRIS, Rhys Mathewson and Harley Kemp have completed the field for the Ladbrokes Sydney Darts Masters after winning through the DPA Qualifiers in the Harrows Festival of Darts to secure spots at The Star later in August.
The trio complete the eight Oceanic Representatives who will come up against eight top PDC stars in the fourth staging of the Sydney Darts Masters from August 18-20.
Melbourne-based Mathewson will make his TV debut in Sydney after winning Saturday's Russell Stewart Classic, where he edged out Jeremy Fagg in the final after knocking out experienced pair Clinton Bridge and Warren Parry during the event.
New Zealand's emerging star Harris will compete in the Sydney Darts Masters for a second successive year after he won the DPA Australian Matchplay, defeating fellow countryman Parry 6-5 in the final.
Harris had partnered Parry in the PDC World Cup of Darts in June and also competed in the Auckland Darts Masters as he gained further big-stage appearance.
Monday saw the DPA weekend at the Warilla Bowls Club in NSW conclude with the Harrows NSW Masters, which was won by David Platt as he saw off youngster Harley Kemp 6-4 in the final.
With Platt having already qualified for the Sydney Darts Masters, the 22-year-old from Melbourne - a former PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship qualifier who has also played in the Lakeside Championship and World Masters - will make his first PDC World Series of Darts appearance later this month.
The weekend in Warilla also saw Lawrence Ryder and David Platt win the DPA Australian Doubles event, defeating New Zealand's Warren Parry and Mick Lacey 4-3 in the final.
The next DPA weekend will be see DPA Australian Grand Prix Events 21-23 held from November 3-5, with the DPA Harrows Oceanic Masters on November 6 being the year's final DPA tournament.
