Rhode Island Charter gets new display

Did you know there is a museum inside the Rhode Island State House?

Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea rededicated the State House Charter Museum earlier this week.

The museum features the Royal Charter of 1663, the document from Rhode Island's history that guaranteed settlers freedom of religion and the freedom to govern themselves.

The display cases were made by Sandberg Machine, a Burrillville manufacturing company.

The Rhode Island House Charter Museum is located in Room 143 of the State House and is open for public viewing.

The Charter and other historical items are all on display.
