TK 33.62cr govt incentive for Aush farming

The Agriculture Ministry has announced a TK 33.62 crore incentive for the farmers of 52 districts, including three hill districts, for cultivating ‘Ufshi’ and ‘Nerika’ varieties of Aush crops in 2016-2017 season, reports UNB.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury yesterday announced the package for 2,31,363 farmers to cultivate 2,31,363 bighas of land, aiming to boost ‘Ufshi’ and ‘Nerika’ Aush production, promote pumpkin like vegetable cultivation using ‘sex Pheromone trap’ to check pest attacks.
Under the incentive package, each farmer will be provided with 5 kg seeds of Ufshi Aush paddy, 20 kg fertiliser, 10 Kg DAP and 10 kg MOP and TK 400 for covering the irrigation cost of per bigha of land’. Besides, each farmer will get 5 kg seeds of Nerika Aush paddy, 20 kg fertiliser, 10 Kg DAP and 10 kg MOP and TK 400 for irrigation cost of per bigha of land’, the agriculture minister told a press briefing at his secretariat office.
Farmers will get 70578.46 metric tonnes of Ufshi Aush paddy and 10033.50mts Nerika Aush paddy through using the government incentive, she hoped.
The ministry will also provide pots and pheromones lure (sexual attractants) among 2,885 farmers for making harmful insect killing sex pheromones trap at a cost of TK 89, 43933 for the production of pumpkin like vegetables, Matia added.
For the cultivation of ‘Dhaincha’, the ministry will provide ‘Dhaincha’ seeds among 5000 farmers involving TK 1, 07,00,750.
