Second Amendment

DSC_0259 copyThe Second Amendment clearly and unequivocally protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms. Plain and simple. It also preserves other liberties by providing a check on a potentially rogue government. Liberals scoff, questioning the effectiveness of rifles against government tanks, aircraft and machine guns. Just ask the American fighting man about the effectiveness of rifles in the hands of citizens.

The right to bear arms is so fundamental that early in our nation’s history, the debate was whether the Second Amendment actually added anything significant to the Constitution given how widely understood it was that gun ownership and personal liberty sit together. As a legal matter, I applaud the Supreme Court’s recent incorporation of the individual right to bear to apply against the states through the Fourteenth Amendment.

As Attorney General I will fight all encroachment from the federal government or state bureaucrats on Missourians’ right to keep and bear arms.
