The Internet can be an ugly place, and lately, comedian Leslie Jones has been dealing with the worst of it: a Twitter troll campaign waged against her, and now a hack exposing personal information.
The Internet needs to spend the next days, weeks, and months grappling with how to deal with this darkness and trying to understand why it tends to descend upon women, especially women of color. And WIRED will, too.
But for now, we mostly want to make sure that Jones knows how many people out there are rooting for her and showering her with praise. So here goes.
Dear Leslie Jones, A whole lot of people think you’re really talented:
Nothing. And I mean nothing. Will stop the success of Leslie Jones.

I'm really disgusted on how Leslie Jones is being treated. She's sweet & funny. I don't understand why someone would want to dim her light.

I truly don't know why people are so hateful towards @Lesdoggg. Why? She's talented and wonderful. Why are people so pressed to be awful?

And a babe:
Leslie Jones you are beautiful. @Lesdoggg ❤

And have some ideas for your next big project:
i haven't seen the new Ghostbusters movie. I would pay to see Leslie Jones & the other female comedians read the phone book. I'm with them.
— Headshakers (@headshakers) August 24, 2016
I would like to see @Lesdoggg (Leslie Jones) in many roles.
At the moment, mostly as Hercules Mulligan in a gender-switched Hamilton.
— Nat Gertler (@NatGertler) August 24, 2016
That last one is very specific, but hey! It’s friggin’ Hamilton! They’ve got your back:
Anything bad that happens to @Lesdoggg is an outrage and a nightmare. Racism, sexism, and jealousy in a poisonous stew. She wins always.

There's gonna be a world-ending beam in the goddamn sky, if we don't all huddle around Leslie Jones like human bubblewrap. PROTECT LESLIE.
