0Scallops and Twine Technique for Cardmaking
Happy Monday, today I want to share two cards that I made using a quick and easy technique that I saw in the latest fall issue of Scrapbooks and Cards Today, this is a Canadian magazine that is available for download. I saw this cute Scallop and Twine technique and fell in love with it! I couldn’t wait to try it with some of my Cut@Home goodies!
For the first card that I made I used Graphic 45 paper from both the Botanicabella and Mon Amour collections, as well as a Marianne Design die, Graphic 45 Washi Tape and twine. I started
with a 5″ x 7″ gold card stock base. I cut a 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ piece of patterned paper to layer onto the top of the card base. I used a corner chomper to cut the corners of the paper then i adhered it to the card base. Next I added some Graphic 45 Washi Tape, I used a wider tape first then I added another smaller tape on top. I added the Thinking of You Chip Board from the Mon Amour Chip Board tags, I trimmed it with the same twine that I used for the scallop that I created for the card. I cut a scallops from the Spellbinders die set Classic Scalloped Circles – Large ( I used the 4th one, going from small to large for wrapping), I used a gold metallic twine for the wrapping, the video above shows how the wrapping is done. I also cut a smaller scallop and used pop dots to attach it to the wrapped scallop, finally to finish the card I cut a lady’s silhouette from a Marriane Design die set called Creatables Die Lord & Lady Silhouette. I really like the Marianne Design dies, the have lots of detail and cut very easily! I used pop dots to attach the silhouette as well. I really like how elegant this card turned out, here is a look at the finished card:
For the second card I also used paper from the Graphic 45 Botanicabella collection as well as a die from Marianne Design called Creatables Die Tiny Flower 1. I started with a 5″ x 7″ card stock base in a dark green. I cut a 5″ x 7″ piece of patterned card stock from the Bontanicabella collection, I used a corner chomper and cut photo corners in each corner then I adhered it to the base. Next I cut two pieces of card stock to frame the flower die that I wanted to use. I cut out the flower die and adhered it to the base, the flower die is another from Marianne Design, it is called Creatables Die Tiny Flower 1. I added twine on two sizes of scallops for this card. I wrapped both scallops then adhered them together. Finally I added a acrylic bubble created with an Epiphany Crafts shape maker and the Botanicabella paper.
Here is a look at that finished card:
