There a few things you’re going to need to know about life aboard The Ship and this article will help you through the basic concepts.

The Context Sensitive Interface

The Ship features a context-sensitive interface for objects you can interact with. If you hover your firing reticule over one of these objects, an icon will appear showing the default action for that object.

If you Left Mouse click, you will perform the default action. If you Right Mouse click, the menu will expand to show all possible actions that can be used with the object.

Context Menu

You can bribe security guards to ignore your crimes…

You can use this simple interface to perform a wide range of actions, from opening doors and containers, to fulfilling needs, bribing security guards, activating traps, and even just pushing people out of the way.

Inventory

As you move around on board the Ship, you will find useful objects lying around. It is always worth looking in cupboards or containers as you never know where a useful weapon may be stashed. Of course, it’s pretty difficult to find guns, but a knife can be just as useful. Or maybe you’d rather poison your Quarry?

You can also find a range of items to help satisfy your basic needs, such as eating and drinking… or even a colostomy bag, if you’re worried about taking a break when nature calls!

Whatever objects you find, you can store them in your inventory and “hot key” the items you think will make the best weapons, so you can whip them out as soon as you have your Quarry in a suitable murder location.

But remember, if you draw your weapon in front of security guards or cameras, you will be thrown in jail!

‘Money For Kills’ Table

Mr X doesn’t like to see the same boring-old murders over-and-over again, so taking a look at the “Money for Kills” table is a good idea. This table shows the amount of money Mr X is offering for a kill with a specific weapon.

The more a weapon has been used in recent murders, the more bored Mr X becomes, and the less money you’ll get for using it. The most valuable weapon for your next murder is shown at the top of the table—all you need to do is find it in a cabin somewhere…

You can bring up the ‘Money for Kills’ table at any time by pressing “M”.

How to Hunt your quarry

The rules of the Hunt are simple. Each of you is given the name of one of the other contestants on board, your Quarry, and you must Hunt them down and kill them with any weapon you can find on board.

Depending on the game mode, either the last Hunter left alive is the winner or the Hunter with most money in their bank account wins. As well as having someone to Hunt, you have another player hunting you, your Hunter, so keep looking over your shoulder if you want to stay alive.

How to use Money on The Ship

You will arrive on board the Ship with a generous £2,500 holiday allowance in your bank account and £250 cash in your pocket. You will need cash to pay for food, drink, clothing, items from shops and to bribe security staff so it’s a good idea to keep some cash on you.  However, if you are murdered successfully by your Hunter, you will lose all the cash you have in your pocket.

Money in your bank account is safe, even if you are murdered so it’s a good idea to bank any cash you find or which you are given by Mr X for a successful murder.  You can also pick up money dropped by other players who have been murdered but watch out because one of the weapons available on board is cunningly disguised to look like a wallet and may give you a bit of a surprise if you try to pick it up!

Cabins

When you first arrive on board The Ship you will find yourself in your cabin. The Ship has a range of cabins from third class to first class and it’s the luck of the draw which cabin you end up in. Third class cabins are a bit basic in terms of décor but are still safe places to sleep. First class cabins are luxurious and have the added advantage of en-suite bathrooms and a sea view.

Room

A basic cabin, but still good enough to sleep in. And die in.

All cabins have somewhere to sleep, and most have bathroom facilities. But importantly, all have various containers such as wardrobes and drawers where you can find a change of clothes to confuse your pursuer and a range of weapons you can use to hunt your Quarry.

Exploration & Secrets

To be successful in the Hunt you need to know your way around the ships in Mr X’s fleet. Each ship has its own secrets including hidden rooms, passages and tunnels, extra weapons in special locations, environmental traps and triggers and extra special ways of murdering your quarry.

To win, you need to explore thoroughly and use your imagination to find the hidden extras on board each ship.

The Context Sensitive Interface will give you hints to some secret areas if you keep your eyes peeled.

Money & Banks

You will arrive on board the Ship with a generous £2,500 holiday allowance in your bank account and £250 cash in your pocket. You will need cash to pay for food, drink, clothing, items from shops and to bribe security staff so it’s a good idea to keep some cash on you.  However, if you are murdered successfully by your Hunter, you will lose all the cash you have in your pocket.

Bank

Keep your money safe in the bank. You could trust bankers in the 1920’s.

Money in your bank account is safe, even if you are murdered so it’s a good idea to bank any cash you find or which you are given by Mr X for a successful murder.

Banks, cash machines and deposit boxes can be found around The Ship and you can use them to withdraw or deposit money.  In all game modes other than Elimination the Hunter with the most money in their bank account at the end of the game is the winner.

You can see who is in the lead at any time by pressing the “TAB” key and bringing up the score table.

Passenger Identities

You will see your own name at the top left of your screen. Your Quarry’s name is displayed at the bottom right. Everyone on board the Ship has a name but the most interesting person to you is your Quarry…

Sick Bay & The Psychiatrist

Each Ship has a full Sick Bay which you can visit should you become injured or traumatised, to be healed.  You will need money to pay for your treatment and you’ll need to hurry to get there before you die, depending on the severity of your illness.

You may also find useful items in the sick bay but if you go into restricted areas you will be fined for trespassing and eventually arrested.  The psychiatrist can also heal you and needs to be paid.

Security & Prison

The Ship has a compliment of security guards and cameras positioned throughout each level.  If any of them see you brandishing a weapon or attacking another passenger, then you will be fined and taken to jail (where you will be wait for a while until released).

Guard

This guy is always watching. Doesn’t say much though.

Not only do you lose some money, but your accumulated possessions will be taken away from you and you will have lost valuable time to track down your Quarry, so it’s best to avoid getting caught if you can!

However, if you are being pursued, you can use the presence of security to protect yourself from your Hunter.  If you want.  Nobody likes that guy though.
