Our Interview With Anna de Ville

anna de ville

We had the pleasure of chatting with Anna de Ville this week, who recently celebrated her one year anniversary in adult entertainment and is nominated for a 2016 Inked Award!

When we asked this rising star about how it felt to be a newcomer in the world of porn, Anna responded with confidence, “I was really excited! It wasn’t something I planned on doing. I just kind of fell into it, went with the flow, and ended up really liking it!”

Anna worked at a sex shop before embarking on her career as an adult actor, which she said helped prepare her for a comfortable transition. She also grew up in Oregon where there are several nude beaches and events, and Portland is the #1 city for strip clubs in America.

We just couldn’t resist asking about the famous phrase ‘Keep Portland Weird’. Anna commented with a laugh that, “it’s very fitting.”

In addition to staying busy and building her brand here in the U.S., Anna has spent a lot of time shooting in Europe. She shared some good insight into what it’s like to work with crews across the pond:

“Sometimes there can be a language barrier… but they’re more laid back. I had a lot of fun on all of my shoots over there. A lot of times I’d hang out with them afterwards, and we’d go out for dinner or drinks.”

“I love the American sets here, too. It’s just a slightly different atmosphere… definitely more business oriented,” she said.

Although Anna’s enjoying her success now, there’s still a lot she would like to do as her career progresses. “I’d love to get into directing eventually. I have a lot of my own ideas and fantasies that I’d like to put out there and get to express myself a little bit more.”

When she’s not working, Anna likes to read and spend time at home. “You could probably call me a bit of an introvert. I don’t usually go out that much. I have friends, but I’d rather them come over and just hang out.”

She also has a competitive side, having grown up participating in gymnastics, running, and winning multiple events on her swim team.

Anna said she enjoys friendly competition, even on the job. “I used to work in retail and loved competing with my coworkers and managers to see who could sell the most. I didn’t make commission or any more money, I just liked the status of being the top seller in the store.”

Just because someone is competitive doesn’t mean they’re not compassionate, though. “I’ve always been an advocate for animal rights,” Anna said. “On my 10th birthday, I had all of my friends and family over… Instead of asking for presents, I asked everyone to donate to a local animal shelter.”

“I went on an Uber ride recently… I was going to a shelter here in LA, and out of the blue, my Uber driver decided to go into the shelter with me, too! We both ended up adopting dogs that day, and he gave me a ride home for free afterwards!”

A few fun facts about Anna:

-The dog she adopted is a terrier mix named Jameson

-She has a pet tarantula named Lorelei

-If she could choose to attend any live concert, it would be a Styx reunion show with Dennis DeYoung

-Her favorite movie since she was five and has probably seen 1000 times is Heavy Metal

We ended our interview by asking Anna what piece of advice she would pass along to someone who was thinking about starting a career in adult entertainment, and here’s what she had to say:

“I’d ask them to think about themselves 10 or 20 years down the road and make sure that they can handle whatever criticism comes from their time spent in the industry, especially if they plan to have kids or choose a more conservative career.”

She added one last bit of advice, “Be yourself.”  Thank you for being yourself, Anna! We enjoyed the opportunity to know you better.
