General Information - The time it takes us to process a regular order before shipment varies. The current processing time is always posted at the top of this web page. Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, APO and International addresses may take an additional day or two to leave our warehouse. We ship all regular domestic orders going to the 48 mainland United States via UPS or USPS in the sequence received and all orders outside the mainland United States are shipped via the United States Post Office via priority or express mail.

As the map at the top of the page states, most orders take 3 days or less to reach our customers in the contiguous United States after the package leaves our warehouse.

FASTER SERVICE - We know there are times you want an order faster. Since costs for Next Day service varies by package weight and destination, we do not charge a set amount. For faster shipping options, call us at 443-394-8501 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time, or email us at for a "Faster Shipping" quote. You need to tell us exactly what you want to order, and the zip code the package will be shipping to, and whether the shipping address is a residence or a commercial address (if it is going to a home-based business that is still considered a residence).

After leaving our warehouse, packages can take anywhere from from a day or two up to three weeks to reach their final destination, depending where the package goes...domestic, military base, international address, etc., with domestic orders being the quickest and international addresses taking the longest.

Shipping times vary based on where the package is being sent. We ship from Maryland, and the closer to us you are, the faster you will receive your package. For instance, orders to PA or NJ usually take one or two business days after leaving our warehouse, but orders to CA or WA may take 3 days to a week or more after leaving the warehouse. As crazy as it may seem, orders to Europe and Asia may arrive in less than a week after leaving our warehouse, but more often than not, they take 6-10 business days.

As a general rule of thumb...packages usually take 3 business days or less to arrive after leaving our warehouse to the eastern half United States, and 3 to 6 business days to arrive to the western half of the United States after leaving our warehouse.

Shipments to Hawaii and Alaska usually take about a week to arrive after leaving our warehouse, and outside the United States arrival time varies...some packages arrive in less than a week, but most arrive in about 2 to 3 weeks. Packages to APO/FPO addresses varies based on country.

Although it does not happen often, packages do get misrouted for various reasons and delivery is delayed. No organization is perfect...not Live And Learn, not UPS and not the Postal Service. Thus, by placing an order you are agreeing not to hold us liable if a package does not arrive by the date you expect, whether it is Live And Learn's fault, the carrier's fault, or for some other reason regardless of the method the package is shipped or the amount paid for the service. Our only commitment is to ship the package timely by the agreed upon service.

Unless a product states it ships for free, or has its own special shipping fee, our shipping/handling fee for orders going to the 48 Continental United States and APO addresses are based on the total amount of the order. In the event an order's actual shipping costs far exceeds the posted schedule, or the complexity of the order requires extra handling, we will contact you prior to shipment to authorize an additional shipping/handling fee.

Additonally, certain individual items ship for free, and a few extremely heavy items have a customized fee applied. If free shipping or a customized shipping fee apply, the information will be noted on the product's web page.

We do our best to honor our shipping policy, but there are certain occasions where a shipping fee will need to be added or adjusted, such as an extremely large, oversized order with heavy items going across the country or to a remote rural area. If we feel an order needs a shipping fee adjustment, you will be contacted before the order is fully processed. We will try to work with you finding common ground that is fair to you and us, and quite naturally, you will have the option to cancel the order if you do not want to continue with the order. Please note we rarely have the need to adjust the shipping fee.

If your order has items that have free shipping and items that have a shipping charge, then you will be charged a shipping fee.

If you return items that received free shipping, our original shipping cost to you will be deducted from your refund.

Most orders going to Alaska and Hawaii have a flat rate fee of $17.95.

If an order has extremely large, oversized or heavy items and needs shipping fee adjustment you will be contacted before the order is fully processed. You will have the option to cancel the order or continue with the order.

Most orders going to APO/FPO military addresses have a flat rate fee of $7.95.

PLEASE NOTE! As we stated a few times, there will be some exceptions to the shipping fees stated above, but not many. Basically, we will honor the fee as long as our actual shipping fee is not through the roof (for instance, if you order a set of blocks that weighs 20 pounds that will cost us about $50 to ship--that we can't do), in which case we will get back to you right away and try to work out a fair compromise before processing the order.

In summary, there are times we will have to adjust your shipping/handling fee. Quite naturally, you will be notified prior to shipment and given the option to cancel the order, make an adjustment to the order, or continue with the order. In such cases, no action will be taken until we hear back from you.

Canceling An Order

We understand that sometimes you may change your mind after placing an order for a variety of reasons. Depending where your order is in the processing chain, we may or may not be able to cancel the order. We will do our best to locate the package and honor your request, but if we cannot, then you will need to contact us for a return authorization when you receive the package (see Returns page).

In addition, just as we understand that you may change your mind after placing an order, you also need to understand that we may have already invested time, labor and materials processing your order, and may expend a bit amount of effort hunting down your package, therefore we do charge $2.95 for an order cancellation of packages already in the processing chain.
