The Man in Black is coming to town for Mother’s Day.

Not the real Johnny Cash but Jim Yorfido, considered one of the world’s best Cash tribute artists, who is bringing his show, Johnny Cash: From Memphis to Folsom to the Aeolian Hall stage Sunday.

He’ll be performing with his wife, Pam, who will step in for Cash’s late wife, June Carter.

They’ll be accompanied by the three-piece band, Memphis Cats.

Yorfido is acclaimed for his authentic look, but also his near perfect vocals, the rich baritone required for such hits as I Walk The Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire, Boy Named Sue, Jackson and his contemporary recordings, Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nails’ Hurt and Deliah’s Gone.

Cash was one of the most influential musicians in the last century and one of the best-selling artists of all time with more than 90 million records sold worldwide.

Cash, who died in 2003, has long been part of London’s music lore since he proposed to June Carter here in 1968 during a show. They married later that year. Also, through the ’60s and ’70s Cash’s career was managed by the late Saul Holiff, a London promoter.

Known for his country songs, Cash’s music often defied labelling as it crossed genres into rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk and gospel.

Cash struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for most of his career, yet was prolific in the studio, recording albums until the year of his death.

His Country Music Hall of Fame career, spanning 50 years, saw Cash receive awards until after his death, including 18 Grammy awards.
