About Me

My name is Dickson Lam and I live in Edmonton, Alberta. I am a full-time software developer who loves technology. I have been doing software development for over 12 years in various companies as programmer/analyst/system architect as well as freelance software developer. I got into mobile development recently and quickly developed great interest in that field.

    Hi Dickson!

Form the reviews I read, it looks like you have a great product!
    I have a question….
Can I share a slideshow that I create with others?
If so grateful if could please let me know how.
    Thank you and regards

@jay, unfortunately the program doesn’t offer this function. Interesting idea though, thanks, Dickson

    Hey friend Dickson.

Your tool is GREAT! Unlike other tools it doesn’t have to load all the pictures into the slideshow, it just randomizes on the go.

For example, I load a hard disk, 3 tb, 1 million pics , it takes a few seconds and it starts and goes randomly through the entire disk.

In other software, like for example irfanview. I load entire disk, it crashes. I have to load it folder by folder into the program, 50k by 50k, taking me a minute or 10, after that you can save the loaded files as a text so you can reload it next time, which doesn’t work cause 1 million is too many for irfan to handle and it crashes again.

I’d like to suggest some options, because these not being available were a deal breaker for me, but the elegance of your creation has stirred a fire in me to learn programming! For that I thank you!

    – Turning off Random while in the Slideshow, preferably with a right click menu.
    – Being able to go back on a picture.
    – Being able to set hotkeys so user can decide which button to use for navigating back and forth.

Take good care, I love you.

PS: which coding language is your software written in? Which one language would you recommend for a newbie like me to learn. I am not in a rush, I am taking this on as a hobby and intend to learn on the side for the rest of my life!

Please e-mail me if you read this!

@konoyaro, thanks for the positive comment! I used Microsoft .NET C# to write the program. C# is a general purpose programming language which I found it to be a very powerful language especially with WPF. The entire UI is done in WPF including the transition animations. And yes, I had the exact same issue with irfan view as you did with large number of pictures. My goal was not to have to index all images but discover new/existing images on the fly thereby eliminating the need to pre-analyze the vast volume of files before showing a single picture. I think this works well. Again thank you very much for the comment.
