It sounded like the dumbest movie of all time, but it’s actually smart, subversive and packed with famous voices saying wonderfully unspeakable things. In fact, it’s a banger.

Sausage Party is definitely not for everyone. Its well-earned R rating guarantees that. But what might prove the often hilarious and startlingly intelligent film’s greatest bar to blockbuster status is the very thing that sets it apart: its ideas.

Sausage Party is a mixed bag of comedy, but when it finally has the gusto to ratchet things up on a visual level, the surrealistic vulgarity is something to be appreciated, even if you may feel assaulted once the lights come up.

I laughed a lot in the first half, before the movie's repetitive jackhammer pacing, which isn't ideal for any kind of comedy, began working against its better instincts.

I hated this movie; I wish I could unsee it and will it out of existence. But that’s not the same as thinking it’s worthless or corrupt or entirely inept. It’s more like a massively self-indulgent prank, inflicted on the world by some reasonably intelligent young men, which makes it the most bro-tastic project of all time. Mo’ bro than this, no es posible, amigos.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While this not being the perfect film, it's currently my favorite R-rated movie. That is saying a lot because...I usually hate R-rated animated films. It's funny, sexual and weird. I love it. I think my favorite characters would have to be Frank, Barry and the one that tops both of them, sorbitol, maltitol, xylitol, mannitol, calcium, carbonite, soy lecithin, vegetable, triglyceride and talc...or, y'know...Gum. I also love it's excessive cast, a cast you'd expect to see in a Seth Rogen film, like Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, James Franco, Jonah Hill, what have you. I adore this film, but it's not the best animated film altogether. Expand

It was so profane that I felt they were trying to set a record for the most number of times the "F" word was used in a film. You will hear every cuss word in the book many times. I chuckled a lot throughout the film, but really can't remember many laugh out loud moments. The theater I was in was fairly full and it was quiet most of the time. Although it really wasn't good enough for me to recommend I have to give it points for being politically incorrect. Expand

The writers baked the sh1t up, confident that the ideas They are getting are incredible and funny. Reality is that every idea You conceive being high is funny as hell only when you stoned... And this film is a proof what happens when You make this ganja fulled ideas true. Banal pseudo philosophical ganash done with the most talented voice actors alive. What a shame...
On the other hand watch this film high as **** and You will enjoy it! But don't expect "This is he End"-quality

TheThis was lousy but I gave it three stars since I was able to sit through it and not leave in the middle of it like I have other movies. The dialogue couldn't have had more F-bombs, other senseless cursing, and sexual innuendos if it had have been written by people with extreme cases of Tourette Syndrome. Just cursing for the sake of cursing isn't funny. Nor are cheap childish sexual references. Grow up. I guess many Americans think this is funny hence the positive reviews. If you have the intellect and maturity of a semi-educated and thoughtful adult, I would skip this and save your money. I wish I. Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill -- you owe me. Expand
