The Royal Alberta Museum is Alberta’s provincial museum, run by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Alberta. RAM is dedicated to encouraging understanding and appreciation of Alberta’s natural and cultural heritage through the preservation of “the story of Alberta”. RAM has 3 permanent exhibits and 2 or more feature exhibits at any one time. They also provide tours and educational programming.

Arts and Heritage manages Art Gallery of St. Albert, the Musée Héritage Museum and the St. Albert Heritage Sites. The Musée Héritage Museum explores the story of St. Albert through a variety of exhibits and programs, preserving the community’s history.
Strathcona County Museum and Archives: http://www.strathconacountymuseum.ca/
Strathcona County Museum and Archives is run by Strathcona County (Sherwood Park), serving to preserve the history and heritage of Strathcona County. The museum offers self-guided and guided tours, school and seniors’ tours, and summer camps, complemented by a Research Library and Archives. They accept donations.

The Edmonton Archives is a City of Edmonton office located in the historic Prince of Wales Armouries building. The archives contain important civic government and personal records that have significant historical importance to Edmonton. They have a small exhibition space and a non-lending library. Copies of certain items can be ordered.

The John Walter Museum is a living history museum administered by the City of Edmonton. The museum consists of three homes that John Walter and his family built in the Strathcona area, serving as an example of life in Edmonton between 1875 and 1915. The museum is open to the public on Sundays, and they offer birthday parties and other group events.

The Provincial Archives of Alberta acquires and preserves private and government records for the purposes of research, publication and exhibition, which are made available to the public.
Rutherford House Provincial Historic Site: http://www.history.alberta.ca/rutherford/default.aspx
Rutherford House exists as a living history museum on the grounds of the University of Alberta. It was home to the first Premier of Alberta, Alexander Rutherford, and his family. They offer costumed interpreters, guided tours, special events, a shop, and a restaurant.
Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum: http://archives.epsb.net/
The Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum are located in the historical McKay Avenue School, and includes Edmonton’s Oldest Schoolhouse on its grounds. The space is run by the Edmonton Public School Board; offering historical public schools records and archival material for researchers, visual displays, and elementary school programs.

The University of Alberta Museums consists of 29 museum collections located throughout the campus of the University of Alberta, ranging in subject from Anthropology to Zoology. The museum currently has seven spaces for exhibition, including the downtown Enterprise Square Galleries space, but all collections can be accessed via appointment.

The Alberta Railway Museum preserves and interprets significant railway artifacts, focusing on the Canadian National Railway, Northern Alberta Railways, and short line and industrial railways. The museum is operated by the Alberta Pioneer Railway Association. It is open from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day weekend on Saturdays and Sundays.
Fort Edmonton Park: http://www.fortedmontonpark.ca/
Fort Edmonton Park is a living history museum that includes the historic Fort Edmonton, as well as a number of historical and reproduction buildings from the fur trade, 1885, 1905 and 1920. Costumes interpreters provide information and demonstrations. Fort Edmonton Park hosts almost any kind of event, and serves food, has a Midway, theatre, and a number of forms of historical modes of transportation.
