How this tape has made it half a year without a single fuck given about it is beyond me. Everything Nickell puts out should be on everybody’s radar, especially on a label as reputable as MT. A short tape of unsettling drones, the first track is harsh noise stripped and starved of it’s volume. Delicate piercing trills sawing through your soul, swirling lasers set for the heart of the sun, culminating in a flurry of panic static & ghostly cries. The B side takes a darker tone, deep murky drones gurgling while those high end chimes from the first track occasionally pop up for maximum creep factor. Like sitting in the darkness of an alien ether bog, hearing the most awful foreign sounds, foreboding as fuck, knowing full well that you’re about to get pounced. Totally fucking awesome. Nickell knows what’s up and The World Is A Refuge From Perfection is just a little nugget of his brilliance.
