Story # 1: Becky meets the erudite Thomas Edmonds Hardy in 23 Parish Night Club–1989.
As Eddie Turner and I turn to my new girlfriend Becky to introduce her to my soon to be employee,
Thomas Hardy (former society scribe for The Rocky Mountain News), there was some loud confusion
and Thomas reacted to Becky’s hair flip as “oh just like a blonde”.
Much to my absolute horror Becky proceeded to tell Thomas exactly what he could do to himself!
They became immediate friends. And their friendship was as “life-long” as either were able to sustain.
Oh Jerry! I just got this new Apple device (we’re slow when it comes to technology) and my computer guy just downloaded all of Becky’s songs into the TV base so guess what? BECKY WILL BE SINGING FOR OUR DINNER PARTY! He also has her photos on there so during the slide show, she will be part of it all. She truly was so beautiful. Heart and Soul, inside and out. Her voice I am listening to right now. She’s right – she’s never entirely gone. What a beautiful tribute. She is certainly smiling down at you, J.
I never had the opportunity to meet this beautiful lady. However with that being said, after viewing this beautiful tribute and listening to her voice along with what others had to say, I evidently missed meeting a wonderful person!!!
I do enjoy her singing on the CD Jerry gave to me and listen to her angelic voice as I drive. I sincerely wish you, Jerry, beautiful memories to stay with you as you continue to enjoy your life the way she would want for you. May she now be singing with the Angels!!! I will never forget the wonderful times with Becky and Jerry on our Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Star Trip to Montreux, Switzerland! Alex played banjo in our band for 3 years, and his grandparents were a huge reason for his success. Becky provided so much motivation and encouragement for the band throughout our Switzerland Concert Tour in 2011 – thanks for everything Becky! You are such an inspiration for all of us!!
I know I’ve told this story before, but it’s so funny it bears repeating. Many years ago I had a gig at the now defunct Manhattan Grill. It was your typical bar gig, lots of patrons talking and not a lot of listening to the music. There was one patron in particular, named Patrick, who had a very carrying and operatic voice. He used to sit in the back of the room and sing opera OVER the music I was singing. Kind of interesting, mostly annoying. The manager didn’t know how to stop it, as he was a regular.
Well, one night Jerry and Becky came in to hear the music. Patrick was holding court on another corner of the room and of course, he started in with his opera accompaniment. Becky’s head jerked up, she spotted the source of the sound, marched over and punched Patrick hard in the arm, saying “This is NOT YOUR GIG!”
Needless to say, Jerry hustled her out of the room but the managers and I were all so grateful to her, because none of us could have said it. The opera thing never happened again. No one but Becky, tall blonde Amazon that she was, could have pulled that one off! Blessings to you, Becky, wherever you are singing now!

This is a really beautiful thing put together in Becky’s honor. I didn’t know her that well but knew she was a great entertainer. You will celebrate the wonderful memories you both shared together!
Although I did not know Becky personally, the music on this website gave me great insight into the amazing woman, wife, Mother, friend, etc. The intensity of her voice and the diversity of her music is overwhelming. As a former high school friend of Jerry’s, I only knew Becky from the many loving and admirable comments he has made about her over the years! They were both blessed to have each other as best friends, co-workers, lovers, and soul mates. This type of intensity is rare to find in a relationship. But the intensity of her voice is indicative of the relationship she shares with all individuals who are fortunate to listen and hear. Although Becky has gone to another passage in life, her music and voice will live on forever!
I first met Becky in the mid 90′s at a Special Event conference. I couldn’t get over how stunningly beautiful – in a Hollywood way – she was, and how I wished my legs were as long as hers! : D She was elegant, stylish…. and can you imagine when I got to first hear her sing in Denver a few months later, I thought: “Oh – and she sings like an angel too!!” What a lovely package Becky was. She had such a short time here on Earth, but boy did she leave a wonderful legacy. Becky Kelly Barnett was one of a kind, and there won’t be another entertainer out there like her again. Becky was my friend, and Mitze’s (a tiny dog with a huge heart – 4 ½ pound Malte-poo) friend, too! There was an instant connection between Becky and Mitze!
Becky was an amazingly multi-faceted person—in her music, of course, but also “off stage”. She enjoyed coming out to our house in the “country”, but tremendously enjoyed city-living. Once, she and Jerry came to visit and we went upstairs to our converted barn Loft. Somehow, the conversation turned to playing Jacks! So…..Becky and I sat right down on the floor and played a few games of Jacks! We laughed and shared childhood memories of contests, tournaments and Championships. Becky could gracefully interact with dignified, “stuffy” cocktail party guests, or sit on the floor and play jacks, with ease!
Becky was elegant, highly opinionated, fiercely loyal, protective and always a “presence”– filling the room with her beautiful sparks of energy which would glowingly float around and through you, or zing through the air with passion and electricity.
She left us with a space that will always be present in our worlds and lives. At the same time, true to her personality, she left us with so many wonderful memories to help FILL that space and make us smile forever. I am grateful she was a part of my life and so very thankful I had the opportunity to “experience” Becky.
Jerry…Beautiful tribute to Becky. I am privileged to have met you both along our journey’s of life. Becky was a gentle spirit with some spice every now and again Her most endearing quality was her love and acceptance of all people; she had a big heart. But most of all, I admire the steadfast love you both have for each other. From my eyes, you were a beautiful complement to each other and I feel blessed to have been able to observe the special bond you had. Love to you both…
