Edenvale Solar Project

Project Summary

The Edenvale Solar Project is a proposed 29 megawatt utility-scale solar project located in the Township of Clearview approximately 10 km east of Stayner, Ontario. The Project, which involves the installation and construction of solar panel arrays and associated equipment, is being proposed on private property situated partially on unused portions of the Edenvale Aerodrome and partially on the adjoining property to the east, located off Highway 26.

The Edenvale Solar Project is being developed by Sunnidale Solar LP, a subsidiary of BluEarth, in response to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)  Request for Proposals for the Procurement of up to 565 MW of New Large Renewable Energy Projects (LRP I RFP). If awarded a contract under LRP I, and subject to receiving required approvals, the Project is anticipated to begin construction in 2017 and become operational in 2018.

BluEarth is committed to engaging stakeholders in the decision-making process for the Project. We believe that trust is the foundation for long-term successful relationships, and we know that trust is only earned over time, by working together with honest and transparent communications. BluEarth has started consulting with area stakeholders and the Township of Clearview and hosted a public open house in July.

About the Large Renewable Procurement

On March 10, 2015 the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) released the final Request for Proposals for the Procurement of up to 565 MW of New Large Renewable Energy Projects (LRP I RFP). The LRP I RFP is a competitive procurement process for renewable energy projects with a generation capacity of over 500 kilowatts. Further information on the LRP I RFP can be found on the LRP website. In November 2014, BluEarth was selected as a Qualified Applicant under the LRP Request for Qualifications (LRP RFQ) process and therefore is eligible to submit proposal(s) under the LRP I RFP. BluEarth intends to register Sunnidale Solar LP as the Registered Proponent for the Project under the LRP RFP process, and subsequently submit the Project to the IESO in accordance with the LRP I RFP process in September 2015.

Solar Project Newsletters

Edenvale Solar Project: LRP 1 RFP Submission

BluEarth submitted the Edenvale Solar Project into the  Large Renewable Procurement 1 Request for Proposals (LRP 1 RFP) on September 1, 2015. It is anticipated that the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) will identify the successful projects in late 2015.

If the Project is awarded a contract, BluEarth will be required to obtain various approvals under the Renewable Energy Approval (REA) process. This will include additional field and engineering studies including:

  • Vegetation assessments
  • Wildlife and habitat surveys, including surveys for endangered and threatened species
  • Bird point counts
  • Hydrogeological studies and stormwater/grading design works
  • Visual screening design
